The necessity of using a keylogger for employee monitoring

Use of software to track employee activities at their workplace is a trend that is gaining immense traction in the modern corporate world.  Well developed software that can gather data of a worker action when he or she is at his office computer is slowly becoming a necessary evil.  This is despite the thorny issue of employees' privacy and confidentiality. But the merits of the use of Keyloggers to monitor their activities ensure that any company cannot be left behind in the adoption of this trend.

For a start, monitoring improves the security of the workplace computers and networks. This is because the keylogger software can be used to block the use of malware-infected software and restrict the use of suspicious websites and portals in the workplace computers. This can enhance the performance of the computers as they won't face breakdown due to virus attack or being ineffective due to Trojan horse infestation.  Furthermore, these monitoring software can be used to restrict the sharing of confidential data to computers outside the company's network. This ensures that the corporate secrets are free from falling into the wrong hands outside the keen eye of the firm's administration.

In tandem, monitoring software improves worker productivity. An employee would rarely involve him or herself in unproductive task using the office compute with the prior knowledge that his actions are being monitored. This has the tendency of increasing workers' accountability. Moreover, workers will more often, spend the office hours fulfilling their job description that is being monitored and occasionally ranked by the installed keyloggers. Hence, cases of absenteeism and lack of punctuality can be tamed.

Monitoring software can be used to create a great working environment and reduce internal conflicts and arguments.  A rogue employee who may prior feign anonymity to misuse company network resources can be identified and disciplined accordingly. Also, non-apt workers who depend on the communal success while doing little to contribute to it can easily be flushed out. But more critically, monitoring software can be used as an unbiased tool for employees' performance reprisal. Because the data collected by these software is often beyond reproach, proper grading of workers' performance can be determined over time. This can in effect reduce the conflicts that arise when some workers are promoted without clear evidence to support the action.

The use of employee monitoring software in the work is a trend whose time is ripe. The various advantages associated with it thoroughly advocate for its use. But care should be exercised to regulate the practice and ensure that it is not used inappropriately.  Harmony and productivity of today's corporation can therefore place their bet on the effectiveness of employee monitoring software.
