Did you know that if you've been using a Facebook profile for your organization, Facebook could shut down your profile ? It's true. In fact, it's a direct violation of their rules.
According to Facebook, "Profiles must represent an individual. Users aren't permitted to maintain an account under the name of their organization, or use personal accounts to advertise or promote themselves professionally."
If you have done this mistake then you have the option to convert a Facebook Account, into a Page. Facebook allows us to do this, which is great for companies that made a personal account, but named it for their business. The good news is that Pages have better features, such as insights, the ability to add multiple administrators, and there are no limits to the number of people who can "Like" your Page.
This is not only applicable for companies but also for celebrities and persons which got popularity after they created their Facebook account. The problem with a profile is that you can only have 5000 friends and in case with a celebrity it is a small number. So they can also convert their Facebook account into a page with an unlimited fan following.
How it Works:
1. Log into the fb account, which you are going to convert into page.
2. Go to Profile to Page Migration
3. Click to choose a category for your Page.
4. Select a more specific category from the dropdown menu and fill out the required information.
5. Click Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions.
When you convert a personal profile to a Facebook Page, your current profile picture will be converted to your page’s display picture and all your friends and subscribers will be added as people who like your Page. Your account’s username will become the username for your Page, the name on your personal account will become your Page’s name and you will still be able to log in from your original email address and password.
No other content will be carried over to your new Page, so be sure to save any important content before beginning the conversion. Download your timeline information from the Account Settings. You can download a file that contains all of your sent and received messages and all of the photos and videos you have uploaded to Facebook.
- Go through the Settings.
- Click General in the left-hand column.
- Click on Download a copy of your Facebook data.
- Click Start My Archive.
In case you've accidentally converted your personal account to a Facebook Page, you can submit a request for a reversal.
